Godiva

A well know subject , there as been many that have tried hard to give hope to our city but my painting of lady Godiva is about the first one to try to change things for the better of all. It matters not if it was a myth but its been a symbol of hope for hundreds of years.

My art is about life to me art should tell a story I am a realist , so I work in oils ,watercolour and fine drawing , Being a member of the City Art guild for over 40 years, and rarely missing a our weekly meetings , has given me the opportunity to meet so many fine artists of all ages , I used to teach art, but now help others to improve their skills , I was born in Coventry on a farm in the village of Brownshill green , war baby , My farther and mother lost their home in a bombing raid ,,so we had to move to grandmothers farm , but that was not an easy move . as grandmother hated my mother , so dad converted an old chicken shed into a home , rats mice and cold weather were common , I say this to let people know that life is never easy, and you must never give up hope , being dyslexic and struggling to cope set me back for many years , but my art saved me , I wanted to be the best , so work hard never give up , and one day people will say (did you paint that ) words like this you cannot buy , so hope is not just wishing its about its about dedication and hard work , set yourself a goal and never give up , I say to the few younger artists that come to the guild , if you really want some thing in life then you will get it ,(But) if you don't get it, then you didn't try hard enough See all my art on Facebook: roger chamley and roger chamley fine art
